MARTIN CHAMBERS ECUADOR TRUST

The Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust (Charity No. SC037458) was set up in 2006 to support the lives of those who live in the poorest conditions in Ecuador.  It was started up to support the work of Fr. Martin Chambers while he worked on the missions in Ecuador’s largest city, Guayaquil from 2004-2009.

Since Fr. Martin returned to Scotland in 2009, the work of the Trust has continued.  It continues to support the poorest people in various parts of Ecuador: in feeding programmes; in supporting educational projects; and in giving the people there a helping hand as they set up their community amongst the poorest conditions.

OUR MISSION

Soup Kitchen

One of the first things that Fr. Martin saw when he lived in a shanty town on the outskirts of Guayaquil was that the poorest people could not afford to feed their children.

Fr. Martin realised that the only way out of the abject poverty in a shanty town was through education.  However, he saw that many families could not afford to send their children to school.

Earthquake Zone

In 2016 a 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed at least 480 people, injured more than 4,000 and left 231 missing. A state of emergency was declared in six provinces.
